Long popular in Mexico, these fleshy oval leaves of the nopal (prickly pear) cactus plant are gaining in popularity in the United States. Prickly Pear Cactus is an edible cactus with a soft but crunchy texture that also becomes a bit sticky when cooked. It tastes similar to a slightly tart green bean, asparagus, or green pepper.
